Super Fresh and Delicious Poke

We saw this place on a Youtube recommendation and are so happy to have gone! The parking lot is small, but you can park at the church nearby.
The market is great, small Japanese market, but the back has a ton of poke/seafood options. They are happy to let you sample things, they also sell rice and other pre-packed items. The Marlin was AMAZING and super cost-effective ($7-$10/lb). The seafood here was VERY fresh and out of all the poke we tried, I liked the one here the best (my mom especially loved the octopus poke).
Pro Tip: If you want to buy souvenirs at Costco, this place is not too far from Costco.

Amazing poke! Interesting market, nice staff!

I first heard of this market on YouTube. Can’t think of the guys name but absolutely loved watching him try different foods around Oahu. His love for food and his facial reaction to the poke from this market made me want to try it. Upon reading some reviews on here I almost didn’t go. I would have been pissed if I missed this. I tried poke from Foodland and a Superette on North Shore (both highly recommended) and I was totally underwhelmed. Then I came to this market and ordered the -spicy Tuna, -De real Kine -Onion Blue Marlin. The cuts of fish are perfect sized and texture. No “bad” pieces. The flavors, on point. I can’t find one improvement on the poke here and would ONLY recommend this poke of the three I’ve had so far on my trip. I did buy some fresh “Island mullet” but haven’t fried it up yet. The service was fast and the guy behind the counter is sweet. He got really excited when I told him I came from watching the YouTube video. He also watches the guys videos as he “eats around the world”.
If you love seafood and want some amazing poke, you must try the poke from this market! I have eaten a lot of meals out in Oahu and this has been my favorite meal I’ve had so far! (That includes the famous food truck, too!)

Great fresh seafood market with excellent service

Went in to the market for some fresh fish – wow, what a selection and the people behind the counter were very helpful. Cooked up some fresh Opah fish later that night – it was amazing!
Went back the next day and bought some Ahi Tuna which was also fantastic.

While in Honolulu I was hosting local friends for supper. I did some research and ended going to Tamashiro Market for a selection of poke. My friends, who are native of Honolulu, were pleasantly surprised. How did I know to go to Tamashiro? A local magazine labeled it one of the top five poke spots in Honolulu. My friends bumped it to their number 1 spot. I had leftovers so I took it to a meeting, again with locals. How did I know to go to Tamashiro? They were impressed. I stopped by on my way to the airport and purchased more for lunch in the lounge. I think the octopus (tako) is terrific as is the Ahi Chili. I also recommend a side of seaweed salad. So go to Tamashiro and eat like a native!

Reasonably priced seafood

It’s a great place to buy seafood should you plan to cook your meals whilst on vacation (and why not). I bought the Manila clams and they were fresh and sweet. The wild caught shrimps I bought were also of good quality.
